Toyota has put on the final test fourth generation hatchback Prius . According to the magazine Autocar. The public premiere of a novelty will take place at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which begins in September 2015. Sales of the model will start in the second quarter of next year. The new generation Prius will get two versions – standard, which reminds Mirai, and modification of Prius Plug-In Hybrid (PHV).
Mid-size hybrid hatchback is likely to be equipped with all-wheel drive. The novelty is constructed on a platform TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture). The car will be offered as a nickel-metal-hydride and lithium-ion batteries. The first will be installed on the cheap version of the model, the second – on top modification.
The main difference will be the car a low center of gravity and lighter weight. This novelty will surpass its predecessor in dimensions. The car will get a longer wheelbase and lowered suspension. Weight standard version of the model will be 1280 kilograms and modification PHV – 1350 kg.
The company promised that the new hybrid propulsion system will be more compact than its predecessor and more economical. Note that the current Prius in the urban cycle consumes 3.9 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers. It is expected that the average fuel consumption of the new model will be 1.5 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. The structure of the power plant will enter the 1.8-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor. The total capacity of the car – 150 horsepower.
Earlier it was planned to introduce a novelty in the spring of this year, but Toyota postponed the release of a new generation of car Prius. According to unofficial information, the decision was made after the leadership of the group did not like the design of future models.
