The US division of Volkswagen conducted a large-scale renewal of multimedia systems in all new vehicles in 2016 model year, except for the Eos convertible and SUV Touareg. The updated version of “multimediek” adds support for file formats Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink, reported.
All three formats will be pre-installed in the multimedia system, switching between them by pressing. The user connects the phone to the complex – displays a corresponding “plug” and the basic application is duplicated on the front panel display.
Support for popular formats is made possible by a radical renewal of the entire system. Its new version is called Modular Infotainment Platform (MIB II). The company assured that performance and graphics have been greatly improved compared to the previous modification.
Multimedia Systems Volkswagen learned not only to support Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink – expensive versions they got a set of proprietary applications App-Connect and Security & amp; Service. With the latter, for example, parents can receive alerts when the system will record that the teenager who is driving over the speed limit.
The first machines with upgraded system went into US dealerships in late July.
